VOLUNTEER RESOURCES

THANK YOU FOR HELPING!

GAME DAY ROLES

On Game Days, for U11s and Youth U13s and older matches only, there is a requirement for a number of Volunteer roles to be assigned in order for games to proceed. It is the role of the MCJAFC Team Manager to identify Volunteers to fill these roles, but it is always helpful if parents Volunteer rather than wait to be asked.

The required roles are:

  • 1 x Ground Marshall
  • 1 x Qualified First Aider
  • 1 x Team Runner
  • 1 x Goal Umpire
  • 2 x Water Carriers – Minimum (a Maximum of 4 are allowed)
  • 1 x Timekeeper

To assist Volunteers in understanding what each respective role entails we have developed a short Game Day Guide for each role – see below.

For Footy-4-Fun matches (u9.5s) only the following roles need to be filled:

  • 1 x Ground Marshall
  • 1 x Qualified First Aider
  • 1 x Goal Umpire
  • 1 x Timekeeper

GROUND MARSHALL – GAME DAY GUIDE

The role of the Ground Marshal is a very important one and key to ensuring that everyone involved enjoys their Club Football experience.

Over the years there have been many instances where coaches, Players, officials and/or Parents-Spectators have acted in appropriately, i.e. not abided by AFLQs Code of Conduct and

At MCJAFC we want EVERYONE – our Club members but also visiting Clubs – to enjoy the Club football experience, but this requires everyone playing their part. The Ground marshals role is to monitor behaviour and ensure this occurs!

This handbook is a valuable reference and the source document for most of the Volunteer roles detailed on this Volunteers page.

We have also provided a link to the Ground Marshall Checklist, which should be used throughout the conduct of matches – CLICK HERE – to access.

To assist Club Staff in setting up the grounds in preparation for Home Game Matches we have also included information about field sizes and the field layout at MCSHS.

We hope that the information provided here will ensure that Ground Marshalls understand their role and that games of junior AFL Football are conducted in a friendly and fun atmosphere.
