CLUB HISTORY
Mountain Creek Football Club was created in 2012 by teachers at the Mountain Creek State High School, which is also a AFL School of Excellence. In the early years the focus was on Youth Girls teams as this was when the formation of Girls football was only just emerging.
In 2013 the School fielded an U15 Girls team who made it to the Grand Final but were defeated ending the season as runners-up. In 2014 the School fielded both U15s and U18s girls teams who both ended the season winning their respective Grand Finals. In 2014 both teams attempted to go back-to-back but with the girls competition getting stronger they both ended the season as Runner-Ups.
After the 2015 season the Club ceased to operate due to a lack of volunteers and a lack of lower level age groups to support the 2 Youth girls teams.
In 2018 the current Club president – Steve Curnow submitted an application to AFL-SC to restart the Club. AFLQ approved this application on the proviso that the Club start with an Auskick, Roys, and Juniors. This was mandated to ensure the longevity of the Club by building the foundations from the bottom up.
The Club fielded its first Junior teams in 2019 with just 38 players. Since that time we have continued to grow with over 130 players registering to play in the 2022 season. it is hoped that the Club can continue to grow and our plan is to have 180-200 players registered to play in the 2023 season!!! GO SHARKS!!!!
